Nicholas H. Fiebach

Description

Dr. Nicholas Fiebach is a fellowship-trained and board-certified internal medicine physician. As the Chair of Medicine at Stamford Health, he is committed to ensuring all patients receive high-quality, patient-centered care and that physicians within the department find the support they need to ensure great care for their patients and their own well-being. After completing his residency training in internal medicine at the University of Colorado in Denver, Dr. Fiebach served in the National Health Service Corps in New York City. He then completed a fellowship in general internal medicine and clinical epidemiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Fiebach is dedicated to teaching medical students and residents and providing a stimulating learning environment at Stamford Health. He served previously on the faculties of the medical schools at Yale University, Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University. He is Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, where he was recently the Vice Chair for Graduate and Continuing Medical Education in the Department of Medicine. During his career in academic medicine he has contributed to our understanding of cardiovascular disease and preventive medicine and to improving medical education in primary care and public health. Throughout his career, Dr. Fiebach has been a primary care physician to underserved populations and has guided medical students and physicians in-training on their career paths in medicine.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the New York Academy of Medicine. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and editor of the popular textbook, Principles of Ambulatory Medicine.
