  • Zimra Gordon

    DVM

    Zimra Gordon graduated with a BA in biology from Wellesley College in 1992. She received her DVM from Tufts University in 1996. After practicing small animal medicine for several years, she became interested in the epidemiology of infectious and chronic disease, and received advanced training at the Yale School of Epidemiology and Public Health. She was awarded a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Yale in 2002. She is part of teh Yale Human-Animal Medicine Project, which explores the intersections between animal and human health. She became Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine in 2007, and is one of the very few vets in Connecticut to be Board Certified in this specialty. Dr. Gordon enjoys working with pets and their families through all life stages. When not practicing veterinary medicine, she and her family, both two and four legged, can be found wandering through the forests and wetlands of New England.

  • Ingrid Schmidt

    DVM

    Dr. Schmidt grew up locally in New Canaa. She attended Cornell University where she received a Bachelors degree in Animal Science in 1996. She then completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 2000. The year following graduation she survived an Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington D.C. She has worked in New York City and London, Enlgand. Upon her return to Connecticut she finally settled on a practice home at VCA Davis Animal Hospital in June of 2005. She enjoys working to help older pets maintain a good quality of life and helping their parents to better understand their often multiple disease processes. She is also a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and as such spearheads Davis' Cat Friendly Practice Program. Dr. Schmidt has been working part time since january 2008 to enable her to balance life as a veterinarian with life as a mother to her daughter Diana and son Tyler. She lives here in Stamford with the aforementioned offspring, her husband Troy, a teacher /administrator at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, and their Weimeraner dog, Gretchen, who likes to chase ice cubes the length of the kitchen floor but hates water. In her very limited spare time she enjoys curling up with a godd book, expecially mysteries. .

  • Shalmalee Kotwal

    VMD

    Dr. Shalmalee Kotwal received both her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees at the University of Pennsylvania. She then completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT. She worked as an emergency veterinarian prior to joing the staff at VCA Davis in 2009. Her professional interests are emergency and internal medicine. She enjoys cooking, traveling, singing/playing music, and spending time with her dog. She lives in Norwalk with her husband and her dog, Pekie. .

  • Jason Berkowitz

    DVM

    Jason L. Berkowitz attended college at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts followed by Tufts Veterinary School in North Grafton, Massachusetts as part of a 7 year B.S./D.V.M. combined program, which he completed in 2002. He then performed an internship in medicine and surgery at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. Following his internship, Dr. Berkowitz joined our VCA team working at County Animal Clinic in Yonkers, NY, and was the medical director there from July 2006 to 2010. He joined us as medical director at Davis Animal Hospital in 2010. Dr. Berkowitz also completed the degree of Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University in January of 2009. Dr. Berkowitz lives in Trumbull with his wife Kristine, who is a zoo and wildlife veterinarian. He has two children, Katiya and Keira, and his family also includes 3 cats named Chloe, Miles, and Mr. Masnugamapants, as well as 1 dog, an Australian shepherd mix named Maya. When he is not working, Dr. Berkowitz likes playing ice hockey, golf, and skiing. .
